Fundraising Parish Dance
A charity dance was held in June to raise funds for Patrick Hickey to go to Tanzania with his school, St Thomas Aquinas, to help build a school for local children in desperate need of aid and support.
The trip would be for a group of VI Formers from the local school and they would be there for four weeks in total. The cost of the trip was £4000 per student.
Patrick spoke very eloquently during one of the weekend Masses, a couple of weeks before the dance, to encourage people to come along and support this very worthy project.
He had also recently taken on a weekend job in a local supermarket to help with costs.
Little Jimmy entertained the crowd for the night and there was a raffle to raise even more funding.
In total, £1400 was raised and will go towards helping Patrick fund the trip. He is due to leave for Tanzania mid July.
Patrick and his family would like to thank all those involved in making the night a great success, especially Father Pat Browne, who helped organise the evening.
